Movies and TV carry a big social responsibility

Where these have larger appeal, these employ all the senses in order to convey the message. Both of these have the capacity of arousing emotions and utilizing them to purposes. However, it is also sure that both these forms of art carry a lot of responsibility and thus filmmakers and TV production houses must retain social responsibility in the choice and showing films and programs on the big screen and the small screen.

United States Cinema has produced some of best movies of all times. Some TV programs too are hit on the small screen. Movies and TV have given a lot to the society. Where movies related to social issues bring in awareness in the society; some have entertained the people. Social activists claim that raising social issues through films and television is the best  and instant means. However, not all people agree to this and say that people do not entirely believe what is being shown in the films or on the television unless it is claimed to be original and not forged. As per a popular theory, people willingly suspend their disbelief while watching a movie of serial on the TV. Above all opinions, theatre, and television reflect the culture of a place. A well settled society in a developed nation like US reflects the overall state of things going on the society. Some reflect the effect of the present day materialistic attitude on the society while others stress on the need of cultivating interpersonal emotional ties.

In all, where movies reach to a section of people taking time to watch it entirely, serials and soaps are displayed daily on the small screen and so are easily accessible anytime. Thus, faster reach and instant publicity can be credited to the small screen.
